[gallery]It is almost 2 weeks after I arrived in Laos. Time flies so fast, but my Lao language skill does not improve at all.
My hobby has been travelling after I went to India as an backpacker when I was a freshman at collage. The year after experiencing a nightmare in India, I travelled to Thailand, Laos, and Cambodia. I really loved the people there and I was fascinated by them. I especially loved Thailand, so I started studying Thai after coming back from that trip. I didn’t go to a language school, but I bought books and dictionary to study by myself. I made some Thai friends online and by using Skype, they taught me Thai. I still can’t have an conversation with them, but I can understand some words they say. After arriving in Laos, I noticed one thing. Lao language is similar to Thai language. There are some differences, but they are extremely alike. The biggest difference is the pronunciation of the “R” sound. In Thai, “studying” is “riyan”(I don’t know the spelling), but in Lao, “studying” is “hiyan”. The “R” sound is “H” sound in Laos. During my stay, I will master this language!!
