ラオスインターン奮闘日記!Life in Laos! No.6

Hello everyone in Japan! In Laos, the raining season already begun, but doesn’t rain at all. It’s still too hot here, so I sometimes feel like I want to go back to Japan. This week I will write about the candy project I do in ODOP (One District One Product).
I’m the 3rd person to come to Laos as an intern from Kwansei Gakuin University. The pre-interns have been working on the candy project. This project is to make candy out of pineapple jam, and dried mango sheet. They are made by the villagers in Champasak province, and we help them by developing products using their jam or sheet. Although the pre-interns have been working hard to complete this candy project, 4 months is not enough to start selling. They had difficulties making the candy hard. The last intern sent me the recipe, and started making candy, but couldn’t make it hard, and suffered like the pre-interns. As I kept on challenging, I succeeded in making the candy hard. It took a lot of time and effort, so I felt really happy to complete a candy. I asked my boss to taste it, and he said the taste isn’t bad. I memorized the recipe, and made candy over and over again. Then, my boss asked me if I want to sell the candy in Laos Festival which is held in Yoyogi Park, Tokyo. I had a strong feeling that I want to sell my candy in the festival, but at the same time, I had a feeling that I need to use more time to make the taste better. I hesitated over accepting her offer, but I decided to sell my candy. This is because I wanted to complete the candy project within my intern. I knew 4 month is such a short time, and I must keep on moving to finish something. The Laos Festival finished, so I’m waiting for my boss’s report about the report. I hope it sold well. IMG_3161
